Wanted: Wadio Thpoks Perthon

For some unknown reason someone has taken to hiring people with severe speech impediments as "voice talent" for local ads. I don't know if this is a Connecticut thing or if its some sort of new fad, but hearing a pitch for It's Just Lunch dating service from a woman with who sounds like her mouth is full of marbles is not likely to incite me to act.

It doesn't stop there. Calling the spokesperson for the local strip clubs - yes, one person does commercials for all of local joints - even slightly literate would be a gross exaggeration. The drop in guy for ESPN Radio can't seem to pronounce the letter "T" which can be a bit of a put off unless you're interested in attending the New Briain Rock Cas or Boson Red Sox games.

Just out of curiosity, when did our standards sink so low? Is this some sort of EOE action or are people simply not paying attention during the hiring process? There has got to be a line somewhere in the job description that says "must be able to speak clearly," right?
